I have just switched to O2 Broadband. They have a great offer of 8Mbps ADSL connection which costs £7.50 a month if you are an O2 mobile customer, which I am (I use iPhone). O2 sent me a free Thomson (Alcatel) router, but I quite like my Linksys WAG200G so I found the following settings for it to use with O2:
- Encapsulation: RFC1483 Bridged
- Multiplexing: LLC
- QOS Type: UBR
- Autodetect: Disable
- VPI: 0
- VCI: 101
- DSL Modulation: ADSL2+
- IP Settings: Obtain an IP Address Automatically
- MTU: Manual
- MTU Size: 1500
Works a treat. Download speed around 6Mbps, upload — 1 Mbps.
Keep in mind that if you use a non-O2 router, you’re on your own, as support won’t help you.
