O2 Broadband Settings for Linksys WAG200G Router

18 September 2008, 22:30

I have just switched to O2 Broadband. They have a great offer of 8Mbps ADSL connection which costs £7.50 a month if you are an O2 mobile customer, which I am (I use iPhone). O2 sent me a free Thomson (Alcatel) router, but I quite like my Linksys WAG200G so I found the following settings for it to use with O2:

  • Encapsulation: RFC1483 Bridged
  • Multiplexing: LLC
  • QOS Type: UBR
  • Autodetect: Disable
  • VPI: 0
  • VCI: 101
  • DSL Modulation: ADSL2+
  • IP Settings: Obtain an IP Address Automatically
  • MTU: Manual
  • MTU Size: 1500

Works a treat. Download speed around 6Mbps, upload — 1 Mbps.

Keep in mind that if you use a non-O2 router, you’re on your own, as support won’t help you.
